FBI agents raided the “Quality Learning Center” in Minnesota and 20 additional suspected childcare centers in the Minneapolis area Tuesday in a major probe into an alleged fraud ring run largely by members of the local Somali community.
According to a DOJ spokesperson who spoke with the New York Post, “The FBI, working with federal, state, and local partners, is carrying out court-authorized law enforcement activity in connection with an ongoing fraud investigation.”

Federal investigators from the FBI and Department of Homeland Security served 22 search warrants altogether, including one at the now-notorious “Quality Learing Center,” which first drew public scrutiny in December of last year after journalist Nick Shirley exposed its misspelling of the word “learning.”
Minnesota’s Democratic Governor Tim Walz stated: “The raids today by state and federal authorities took place because our state agencies spotted irregular conduct and flagged it. This is how the system is meant to work, and our agencies will persist as long as fraudsters need to be locked up.”
FBI Director Kash Patel replied: “Come again? This FBI and DOJ, working with our DHS partners, drafted and executed all of today’s search warrants. But by all means, take credit for our work while we expose the fraud that has infested Minnesota during your governorship.”
The Trump administration believes the widespread fraud in Minnesota has inflicted up to $19 billion in losses on taxpayers.
