A crazed lunatic with a lengthy criminal history has been charged with attempted murder for stabbing a police officer in Florida this week.
The shocking incident unfolded just after 5 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon in Dunnellon.
Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Deputy Robert Fitch was responding to a call about a suspicious individual when he was ambushed by a knife-wielding suspect.
Deputy Fitch was knocked to the ground and slashed several times in the chest before the suspect fled into a wooded area.
MCSO released footage of the ferocious attack and ensuing arrest.
The suspect repeatedly ignored orders to get on the ground and drop the weapon before eventually surrendering.
He was identified as Heriberto Medina Marquez, a 38-year-old resident of Ocala with a slew of prior charges, including battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with violence, domestic violence, and grand theft auto.
“I should have killed you, you know that right?” Medina Marquez told deputies while sitting handcuffed in a patrol car.
Medina Marquez is being held without bond on charges including attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, false identification or impersonation, and resisting arrest without violence.
Deputy Fitch suffered minor injuries but was protected by his bulletproof vest, MCSO says.

The department needs to be retrained. If you get out and approach someone nonchalantly like that, with no defensive posture, you will get slashed and run over in an ambush like that. That could have been remedied by a different posture and readiness.
Cultural enrichment.
Great eyes on that guy.
He would be good in the horror movies you have to admit.
That true spaced out psychotic look.
He has my vote on the hollywood red carpet.
