OTTAWA (LifeSiteNews) — Canada’s top society in charge of children’s medicine has named a doctor known for her active engagement and role in so-called “transition of minors,” which could include the genital mutilation of children.

The Canadian Pediatric Society (CPS) announced that Dr. Natasha Johnson is now in charge as its president for a one-year term. This is the same doctor who founded the “Gender Diversity Clinic” in 2016, located at McMaster’s Children’s Hospital.

This facility allows for “services for trans and gender-diverse youth.”

To make matters more concerning, Johnson also has the title of “Chair of Diversity and Inclusion for McMaster University’s Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME) Program.”

In 2021, Johnson, in a clip from the show CTV’s W5, claimed that individuals who undergo “transitions” are “satisfied” and that “detransitions” are rare.

“In Canada, there is data about transition — there is a study of about 500 people who have gone through transition, which includes hormones, blockers, or surgery, and 96 percent report they are satisfied,” she said.

However, this claim is a direct contradiction to a Finnish study from this April, which found that children who underwent hormone or gender “surgery” had serious mental health issues.

Johnson has claimed that children who undergo “gender transitions” can comprehend their radical actions.

“I think to assume that in general 13 year olds have no knowledge of the future or of the consequences of decisions, I think would be an overstatement,” she said.

As for the CPS, it continues to support the “transitions” of minors, saying, “While [so-called] gender-affirming surgeries are less commonly performed in the adolescent population, [gender-confused] youth may identify surgery as one of their transition goals.”

When it comes to the genital mutilation of minors, either via hormones or surgery, some provinces, such as Alberta, have banned the practice.

Alberta’s United Conservative government under Premier Danielle Smith passed a law banning genital and other body mutilation surgery for minors. However, the Alberta government has faced backlash from leftist activists who have tried to stop the law from being implemented.

Maxime Bernier, a former Conservative MP and government minister who is now the leader of the People’s Party of Canada (PPC), blasted radical “trans ideology” running amok in Canada after a male who identified as “transgender” went on a shooting rampage in a remote Canadian town, killing eight people.

Overwhelming evidence shows that persons who undergo so-called “gender transitioning” procedures are more likely to commit suicide than those who are not given such irreversible surgeries. In addition to catering to a false reality that one’s sex can be changed, transgender surgeries and drugs have been linked to permanent physical and psychological damage, including cardiovascular diseasesloss of bone densitycancerstrokes and blood clots, and infertility.
