US envoys are heading to Switzerland for talks to cement peace with Iran, as Israel resumed its attacks in Lebanon, just hours after reaching a new ceasefire deal.

Steve Witkoff will meet with Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araqchi to discuss the 14-point memorandum of understanding agreed this week as the basis for a lasting peace deal. President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner was already in Switzerland for the talks.

A fresh ceasefire was agreed between Israel and Hezbollah on Friday, but within hours Israeli airstrikes killed at least five people in the south of the country, according to Lebanese state media.

An end to the fighting in Lebanon has been made a key condition for beginning 60 days of talks between the US and Iran concerning some of the more difficult issues between the two nations, including Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

Israeli warplanes, drones and artillery launched a series of strikes across the Nabatieh area into Saturday morning.

Israel has so far refused to comment on the strikes.

Iran’s Araqchi has said the US will be held responsible for any violation of its commitments under the deal, including Israel’s actions in Lebanon.

Vice President JD Vance had been due to attend the talks in person, but cancelled on Thursday.

Since the signing of the interim deal on Wednesday, the average price for a gallon of gas has dropped below $4 for the first time in five months.

According to the American Automobile Association, the average price dropped to $3.999 a gallon on Thursday, 3 cents lower than the day before.

The national average peaked at $4.56 a gallon towards the end of May, and then began a steady decline as hopes of an end to the conflict grew.

The US and Iran have now agreed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz under a memorandum of understanding that aims to bring the war, which began on 28 February this year, to an end.

Around a fifth of the world’s oil and natural-gas exports pass through the Strait each year. The closure of the Strait sent prices skyrocketing.

This is the first time since 30 March that the US national average gas price has fallen below $4.

Indiana now has the lowest average price in the nation at $3.40 a gallon. Twenty-eight states currently have average prices lower than $4.

It’s reckoned Americans have spent $46 billion more on gasoline since the beginning of the war.

  1. The 2 zionists Witkoff and Kushner will sabotage negotiations again.

Meanwhile, Rubio is not doing his job. Vance did a good job.

Israeli paid noisemakers are all over the US media now spreading propaganda.
