British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is set to resign on Monday.

According to The Observer, Starmer is currently discussing his future with his wife, Victoria, before he lays out a timetable for leaving 10 Downing Street.

The news comes as little surprise after the victory of Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham in the Makerfield by-election. The Labour MP who held the seat resigned so Burnham could fight for the seat and launch a leadership challenge against Starmer, whose popularity continues to dwindle.

Some sources have told media outlets, including Reuters, that Starmer will not resign and remains focused on his job.

Andy Burnham has already made two attempts to win the leadership of the Labour Party.

He is said to have more than the necessary backing of Labour MPs to mount a fresh leadership challenge.

“Keir has realised the game is up and it’s got to be a graceful exit,” a senior Labour figure said.

“What he rightly wants to avoid is humiliation, but the worst humiliation for Keir personally would be if he stands in a leadership election and is heavily beaten.”

Burnham, once a centrist, has moved further to the left in recent years and now presents himself as a left-wing populist.

In the Makerfield by-election, he won 55% of the vote, beating his main rival, Nigel Farage’s Reform party, by 20%.

Keir Starmer has faced widespread disapproval as Prime Minister, at home and abroad.

In a recent YouGov poll, just 18% thought he was doing a good job as Prime Minister, with 74% saying he was doing badly. His ratings have decline consistently since he took office in July 2024.

He has repeatedly clashed with President Trump, who described him as “not Winston Churchill” after his refusal to allow US planes to launch attacks on Iran from the joint US-UK airbase on Diego Garcia, in the Indian Ocean.

  1. …after his refusal to allow US planes to launch attacks on Iran from the joint US-UK airbase on Diego Garcia, in the Indian Ocean.

They could have used Andersen Air Force Base in Guam.

Trump sets himself up, straight into the enemiies hands everytime by design.

They should all be hung as war profiteers on a gallows rope.

Nothing but a con game built for profit from the very start.

All this over 20 per cent.

  2. UK people are at a near revolution. So what happens, the deep state throws in a replacement to pacify them for awhile.

“Things are going to change now!” Suuuure
