Senator Lindsey Graham has died from a “brief and sudden illness” according to his office.
“On the evening of Saturday, July 11, U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham passed away from a brief and sudden illness,” the statement shared on X read.
“Senator Graham’s family appreciates prayers at the time and asks for privacy during this incredibly difficult period.”
No details of the illness have so far been revealed.
The Washington Post, referencing audio from police scanners, said emergency service received a call at 8.30pm on Saturday night about a man suffering chest pains at Graham’s home on Capitol Hill.
About 25 minutes later, emergency personnel said CPR was being administered and the man was suffering cardiac arrest.
Graham suffered no known health concerns.
He visited Ukraine last week and met with President Volodymyr Zelensky, and was scheduled to appear on NBC’s Meet the Press today.
Graham was a key ally of the President, and they often played golf together.
The President posted on Truth Social: “Senator Lindsey Graham, one of the greatest people and Senators I have ever known, is dead! He was always working, and was a true American Patriot. Lindsey will be greatly missed!!! DETAILS AND ARRANGEMENTS TO FOLLOW. So sad!”
Graham was also a staunch supporter of Israel.
Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, posted on X: “Israel has lost one of its greatest friends. America has lost a great patriot. I have lost a beloved friend.”
Former prime minister Naftali Bennett wrote: “America has lost a devoted patriot, and Israel has lost one of its greatest friends. Lindsey stood with Israel through our darkest hours, with courage.”
According to state law, Republican governor of South Carolina Henry McMaster can appoint a replacement to fill Graham’s seat.

Who is gonna protect “Isrel” now that Lady Graham has passed? Say whatever you want about this old, gay dead man but he never saw a war he didn’t want to send our troops to die in. I guess God had to step in and say enough is enough after Graham miraculously won his primary in a landslide while having a 30% approval rating.
