A Washington, D.C. man is facing a slew of charges related to child sex trafficking, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) just announced.
Lorenzo Turner, a 43-year-old “recidivist sex offender,” was indicted on June 25 during an investigation conducted by HSI and the Baltimore City Police Department.
The indictment alleges that Turner “recruited, enticed, harbored and transported one child victim to engage in commercial sex acts” between May and July 2024.
He is also accused of sex trafficking a second child between July and August 2024.
Turner was charged with two counts of sex trafficking a child, two counts of transporting a child with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, and commission of a felony crime involving a child by a registered sex offender.
If convicted, he faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years and a maximum of life in prison for each count of sex trafficking a child through force, fraud or coercion; a mandatory minimum of 10 years and a maximum of life for each count of transporting a child with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity; and a mandatory 10 years consecutive to any other sentence for the commission of a felony crime involving a child by a registered sex offender, the Department of Justice has explained.
“This indictment underscores HSI Maryland’s unwavering commitment to protecting vulnerable children from exploitation,” said HSI Maryland Deputy Special Agent in Charge Evan Campanella.
“The allegations against Turner are deeply disturbing, and we will use every available resource to ensure that those who prey on minors and traffic children for commercial sex acts are brought to justice. We remain steadfast in our efforts to work with our state and local partners to safeguard our communities and support victims and their families.”
