And Miller’s point would be? Could it be that being born physically unattractive in America is an even worse fate than to be born into poverty? At least a person has a chance to earn or come into money at some point in their life. Being born homely is a virtual life sentence to unhappiness; usually ugly is every day, forever. But the opposite is also true; being born sexy in America is a Golden Ticket to success, while it lasts. Other people get to place value in whatever human attributes they choose too, and in this country that would be appearance above all else.
