A jury in Olmsted County, Minn., found mother Shiloh Hendrix guilty of disorderly conduct against a cameraman who filmed her during an incident at a playground last year, where she chastised a black child using the n-word after he’d stolen an item from her son’s diaper bag.
In a split verdict handed down around 11 p.m. CT, the jury following over nine hours of deliberation ruled she was guilty of disorderly conduct towards Sharmake Omar, who filmed Hendrix at a Rochester, Minn., playground last April, saddling her with a $1,000 fine, a stayed 90-day jail term and 200 hours of community service.
The jury acquitted the mother on a charge of disorderly conduct towards the autistic black 9-year-old, whom Hendrix had chased and allegedly called the n-word during the playground incident after he’d stolen applesauce from her 18-month-old child’s diaper bag, at which point Omar began filming.

Prosecutors rejected Hendrix’s lawyer’s arguments that his client’s remarks were protected by the First Amendment, claiming they constituted “fighting words” as defined by Minnesota law.
The jury also heard that the boy’s father, Shire Jimale, who relied on an interpreter, waited at least 10 days before reporting the incident to police, doing so only after being advised by the Rochester NAACP to file a police report.
Outside the courthouse following the trial, Hendrix’s lawyer Brian Karalus railed against the “fraud” proceedings, slamming the judge, and saying he planned to appeal the verdict.
Karalus pointed out he had various avenues by which to appeal, noting the judge had violated decorum by “screaming” at him during trial, would not allow him to “make a record” of the proceedings, did not require the cameraman to testify, and would not allow him to present evidence showing a fundraiser of over $340,000 linked to Jimale, curated by the NAACP, which he said is still accepting donations.
“From what I understand about the cameraman, he has a GoFundMe, and his GoFundMe is: HE DIED! He has a GoFundMe that he died! Give money to the cameraman, who died!” Karalus told reporters, adding, “And from what I understand, he’s well alive!”
“This whole thing is fuckin’ bullshit! This is a fraud! This is a fraud against the community.”
The trial’s conclusion caps the saga that gained national attention last year, which led to Hendrix being doxxed and needing to relocate with the aid of over $800,000 she’d raised from supporters on GiveSendGo.\
