Teen Lifeguard Hailed As Hero For Rescuing Drowning Young Boy – Watch The Courageous Act Here!

A teen lifeguard in Santa Cruz, California, was filmed as he made a daring rescue of a child caught in heavy surf at Seabright Beach this weekend.

Several bystanders tried to step in and help the lifeguard, but fled in fear of the powerful waves until a second lifeguard came onto the scene and assisted in the rescue.

According to the man who filmed the incident, photographer Scott Vander Dussen, the ocean was calm before waves suddenly swelled and startled beachgoers.

“When the wave crashed, it left a white foam, and I could see a black dot, which was his head getting pulled out,” Vander Dussen told KTVU Fox 2. “And another gentleman next to me saw the same thing. And so we both went to the closest lifeguard tower, which was pretty near us, and we pointed out to him. He got on the radio and it determined that there was another lifeguard power that was closer and that lifeguard had sought and was already in-action, going.”

He added, “This video right here is an opportunity to showcase just how quickly things can turn, how incredibly brave and selfless the lifeguard team is. And if I had one thing that I would want to communicate would be to support House Resolution 1188, which reclassifies lifeguards as first responders.”

President Trump’s son Eric wrote on social media, “Give this 16-year-old lifeguard the highest civilian honor. This is truly the best of America! Well done!”

The Santa Cruz State Parks District said lifeguards performed 34 rescues during the past weekend.
