A teen lifeguard in Santa Cruz, California, was filmed as he made a daring rescue of a child caught in heavy surf at Seabright Beach this weekend.
Several bystanders tried to step in and help the lifeguard, but fled in fear of the powerful waves until a second lifeguard came onto the scene and assisted in the rescue.

According to the man who filmed the incident, photographer Scott Vander Dussen, the ocean was calm before waves suddenly swelled and startled beachgoers.
“When the wave crashed, it left a white foam, and I could see a black dot, which was his head getting pulled out,” Vander Dussen told KTVU Fox 2. “And another gentleman next to me saw the same thing. And so we both went to the closest lifeguard tower, which was pretty near us, and we pointed out to him. He got on the radio and it determined that there was another lifeguard power that was closer and that lifeguard had sought and was already in-action, going.”
He added, “This video right here is an opportunity to showcase just how quickly things can turn, how incredibly brave and selfless the lifeguard team is. And if I had one thing that I would want to communicate would be to support House Resolution 1188, which reclassifies lifeguards as first responders.”
President Trump’s son Eric wrote on social media, “Give this 16-year-old lifeguard the highest civilian honor. This is truly the best of America! Well done!”
The Santa Cruz State Parks District said lifeguards performed 34 rescues during the past weekend.

Republicans must save the future of conservatism from young wannabe edgelords.
…Young conservatives have a bigotry problem — and everyone on the right has a responsibility to reckon with it.
Nicholas Rafael, the now-suspended treasurer of the New York Young Republican Club, has been linked to an X account — @basedredford — from which he allegedly sent out all sorts of bigoted and antisemitic messages.
His is just one of dozens of scandals rocking the young conservative world, which has been taken over by “edgelords” who say the most offensive things possible for sport. They are a danger to the Republican party and to America’s social fabric — and conservatives of all ages have a responsibility to condemn their behavior.
WTF?
Don’t these asses know anything about history?
So, tell me Thomas Bowdler…
Nope, I support the new faddish, hip lingo of the time, EDGELORDS.
Edge means … the competitive advantage.
And will cut it like a knife.
I’m happy that the college campus will have two belligerent parties on campus come fall.
This is why they need support.
Bowdlerised text is still Bowdlerised text.
Next stop, censorship dumbass.
Kids, no wonder they are stupid.
