In a pointed exchange at the House Armed Services Committee hearing Wednesday, Democrat Rep. Seth Moulton accused Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth of endorsing war crimes by vowing “no quarter, no mercy” against Iranian forces.
Moulton followed up on CNN by floating the extreme idea of executing the Trump administration official for allegedly violating the Geneva Conventions, equating the rhetoric to “murder.”
“You understand that is murder? Do you stand by that statement?” the Massachusetts Democrat asked.
In response, Secretary Hegseth stated: “The Department of War fights to win and we ensure that our warfighters have the rules of engagement necessary to be as effective as humanly possible.”
During his CNN appearance, Moulton was pressed on whether he genuinely believes Hegseth has committed war crimes. “Absolutely!” he replied.
The congressman went on to criticize strikes against boats in the Caribbean, claiming it is “very unclear” that the so-called narco-terrorists — a phrase he said this administration created to justify the action — are even on board. He added that there is “a lot of evidence” the people being targeted are actually fishermen.

Democrat Rep. Seth Moulton FLAT OUT LIES to defend narcoterrorists and compares our military to “Nazis.”
MOULTON: “Back in WWII the allies tried Nazi submarine captains for doing this exact same thing…they got executed. Listen to that Mr. Secretary [Hegseth].” pic.twitter.com/gAMSaDJ6Gg
Moulton continued, “And on top of that, there was a follow-up strike — a double tap — that hit the boats again specifically to kill survivors who were clinging to the wreckage.” He added a historical comparison: “It’s interesting, Erin. During World War II, the Allies prosecuted Nazi submarine captains for doing the exact same thing. They were executed.”
