Hundreds of thousands of illegals have already been removed from social security and Medicare, President Trump announced on Friday.
The President made the announcement during a speech to retirees at The Villages in Florida, and tied the enormous purge to his pledge of “no tax on social security.”
“Together with the Republicans in Congress, we’ve removed nearly 300,000 illegal aliens from the social security roll,” Trump said.
“And, we’ve removed more than 100,000 migrants from Medicare eligibility, 100,000, and the number is going up.”
“The Democrats didn’t care. They couldn’t care less.”
In August of last year, President Trump said 275,000 illegal aliens had been removed from social security.
The mass-removal came as a direct result of a presidential memorandum, “Preventing Illegal Aliens from Obtaining Social Security Act Benefits,” that instructed the Social Security Administration to update its records and remove ineligible individuals, including non-citizens.
One of the main focuses of the second Trump administration has been on preventing non-citizens from accessing social-security programs and other federal welfare benefits. This has included directives at the agency level to the Department of Agriculture, Health and Human Services and the Department of Homeland Security.
Although illegals have always been ineligible for federal welfare benefits, fraud, loopholes and lax enforcement have allowed millions to take advantage of them.
The administration’s push to tighten enforcement has seen major wins over the last year.
For example, enrolment in SNAP food stamps has dropped significantly, from 42.8 million in January 2025 to 38.5 million in January 2026.
