A confrontation at a security checkpoint at President Trump’s West Palm Beach golf course led to a man being arrested, exactly one week after the Correspondents’ Dinner shooting.

The unidentified man was arrested at around 4.15pm at the Trump Doral National Golf Club after defying instructions and physically confronting a Secret Service agent.

President Trump was not present at the club when the incident took place.

Video posted to social media showed the man being cuffed at the checkpoint by local police.

“At no point did this situation impact the established security posture for any upcoming visits to Trump Doral National Golf Club by Secret Service protectees,” Michael Townsend, Acting Special Agent in Charge of Secret Service Miami told The New York Post.

The man has been charged with disorderly conduct and resisting without violence.

This week, the Department of Justice (DoJ) released high-resolution footage of the gunman sprinting through the Secret Service checkpoint at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner and opening fire on agents.

The footage shows Cole Thomas Allen run through a metal detector before shooting a Secret Service agent at the Washington Hilton last Saturday.

A police officer can be seen shooting at Allen.

In a statement, US Attorney Jeanine Pirro rejected claims a Secret Service agent was hit by friendly fire.

“Today, we are releasing video already provided to U.S. District Court showing Cole Allen shoot a U.S. Secret Service officer during his attempt to assassinate the President at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner,” Piro said.

“There is no evidence the shooting was the result of friendly fire.

“The video also shows Allen casing the area in the Hilton Hotel the day before the attack.

My office along with the FBI will continue this extensive investigation to bring Cole Allen to justice.”

Allen made his first appearance in federal court on Monday, after being charged with using a firearm during a crime of violence and assaulting a federal officer with a dangerous weapon.

He was subsequently charged with attempting to assassinate the president and other felony charges.

In a manifesto he released shortly before the attack, Allen expressed his desire to kill the President, calling him a “pedophile, rapist.”

“I am no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes,” he wrote.
