Iran has slapped the US with a new set of “maximalist” demands and a 30-day deadline for them to be fulfilled.
The proposal, which includes the demand for the US to withdraw completely from the Middle East, makes no mention of Iran’s nuclear program.
It came at the same time as the first Iranian attack on cargo shipping in the Strait of Hormuz since 22 April.
According to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Centre, an unidentified ship was hit off the coast of Sirik, Iran.
All crew members are reported to be safe.
Although no group has claimed official responsibility for the attack, Iran has repeatedly warned that ships will be attacked if they don’t pay a toll for transiting the Strait.
Despite the destruction of Iran’s naval fleet, the Revolutionary Guard Corps still maintains a large number of small boats it uses to patrol the Strait.
The new 14-point plan from Iran demands the US must lift its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, withdraw all its forces from the Middle East and end all hostilities in the region, including Israel’s war with Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Iran’s nuclear program, including the fate of some 1,000lb of enriched uranium, does not feature in the plan.
“Our plan focuses exclusively on ending the war and does not contain any details about the nuclear program,” Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei confirmed in a Sunday broadcast.
Baghaei also said the notion that Iran and the US would conduct joint mine-clearing operations in the Strait was “simply a figment of the imagination of some media outlets.”
President Trump has already expressed his dissatisfaction with the plan and warned hostilities could resumed “if they misbehave.”
It’s being reported that the US has provided Iran with a counter-proposal via mediators in Pakistan.

This insanity must end now. Iran does not negotiate in good faith. It never has, and never will, because that is who they are. Islamists lie as though it’s a bodily function. Since Trump decided to start this thing, it needs to be ended now. No more “negotiations,” two-week cease-fire, etc…Level the place and eliminate every single one of what remains of their military and political structure.

We all know this war started when Israel and its puppet the USA surprise attacked Iran during negotiations. Meanwhile, Trump tries to conduct his PR diplomacy via social media, in which he brags, contradicts and lies.
Your attempt to invert the situation on negotiating stances has failed.
