A Minnesota Democrat lawmaker came unglued after a sweeping gun control bill failed to receive enough votes, reportedly shouting at a Republican state representative to “go fucking shoot” himself.

The incredible exchange happened in the Minnesota House of Representatives in St. Paul on Thursday, as Democrat tempers flared after gun control “wish list” HF 5140 failed to pass in a 67-67 tie vote.

Footage shows State Rep. Aisha Gomez (D) shouting at her Republican peers following the vote, with Rep. Elliott Engen (R) saying, “Didn’t have multiple Democrat colleagues yelling at me to ‘go f’ing shoot myself’ on my bingo card…”

According to the NRA-ILA, the bill “included a ban on modern sporting rifles, magazines that hold over 17 rounds, home built firearms, and certain types of triggers; places limits on self-defense rights; and expands red flag laws.”

House GOP leaders labeled Rep. Gomez’s outburst “unacceptable,” and called on the Minnesota House leader to remove her from her Tax Chair duties, while also urging Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.) to “condemn the behavior.

“This kind of behavior is unacceptable and it makes every person in this place less safe,” said Speaker Lisa Demuth. “Someone willing to spew hate and accost colleagues is unfit to serve as a leader in Minnesota.”

GOP Floor Leader Harry Niska invoked the memory of slain Minnesota Rep. Melissa Hortman, saying, “After the horrible tragedies we’ve had in Minnesota over the last year, it is sickening that an elected official would think it’s acceptable to say the things we heard tonight… We had just heard hours of debate and heartbreaking stories of loss and violence. To respond to that with threats and hate is unconscionable and unacceptable.”

On Friday, Rep. Gomez released clearer footage from inside the House claiming she didn’t tell her GOP counterpart to shoot himself, but instead shouted, “Think about them, not yourself, how about that [Expletive],” reportedly referencing last August’s Annunciation Catholic Church shooting.
