Arkansas man Aaron Spencer, who recently won the Republican primary in the Lonoke County sheriff’s race, had his murder case dismissed by a judge on Thursday after investigators lost a memory card holding dash camera footage that reportedly captured the moment Spencer shot and killed a man who was grooming and molesting his underage daughter.
Special Circuit Court Judge Ralph Wilson Jr. wrote, “The court finds that conduct by law enforcement was so egregious that dismissal of this case is warranted.”
In October 2024, Spencer found 67-year-old Michael Fosler in a vehicle with his 14-year-old daughter after Fosler had already been charged with multiple sexual offenses against the girl.

Spencer’s wife said their daughter was “targeted, groomed and ultimately raped by the boyfriend of a family friend,” adding, “We let the justice system do its job. The monster who hurt our child was charged quickly, but released even faster on a $50k bond. He was awaiting court in December for several felonies in relation to what he did to our child.”
After watching the local justice system fail his family, Spencer decided to take action and run for sheriff, with the U.S. military combat veteran who served in the 82nd Airborne Division explaining, “This campaign isn’t about me; it’s about every parent, every neighbor, every family who deserves to feel safe in their homes and in their community. It’s about restoring trust, where neighbors know law enforcement is on their side and families know they will not be left alone in a moment of need.”
A video of Spencer announcing he’d be running for office went viral online last year.
After winning the Lonoke County sheriff Republican primary in March, Spencer will face off against Democrat Brian Mitchell Sr. in the November general election where he is expected to win in the conservative county.

He has failed his daughter if she willingly sat with an old 67-year old dude in the car after he clearly violated her, was arrested, and was released on bond.
The father and the mother did not protect their child from grooming – these are conversations to be had early on and frequently. Especially something that has been going on for a while, that’s a major red flag.
Unless the girl suffers from various emotional and mental health issues, this should’ve never happened.
Good the pervert won’t harm anybody again, but the parents bear responsibility too.
