Ukraine smashed a huge oil refinery in Siberia in what is probably its deepest strike inside Russia yet, as its campaign of attacking vital oil infrastructure intensifies.

Drones hit the Tyumen oil refinery on Saturday, causing a mass evacuation as fires burned out of control.

The refinery is 1,550 miles from Ukrainian border, in western Siberia. It produces 44 million barrels of crude oil a year, with a daily output of up to 160,000 barrels a day. It also produces millions of barrels of diesel and gasoline.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky hailed the “effective strike” on X, and said his country now has the ability to strike up to 1,800 miles inside Russia.

“Deeper further. There will be no safe regions in Russia,” Serhii Sternenko, an advisor to Ukraine’s defense minister, wrote on X .

“Ukraine will bury the Russian colony.”

Ukraine has stepped up its attacks on Russia’s oil infrastructure, which Kyiv says plays a key role in sustaining the Russian war effort.

On Thursday, a stunning drone attack forced the Moscow Oil Refinery, which provides 40% of the capital’s fuel, to close.

The attack was one of Ukraine’s largest of the war, and disrupted flights across Moscow.

Two weeks ago, Ukraine fired hundreds of drones into Russia after President Putin rejected a proposal for a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart.

At least one person was killed by the wave of strikes and an oil depot was set on fire, on the final day of Russia’s economic forum meeting in St Petersburg.

As well as targeting oil infrastructure, the drones targeted the Kronstadt naval base in St Petersburg and the Russian Navy’s 15th Arsenal in the Leningrad region.

The war between Russia and Ukraine has now gone on for longer than World War I.

“In many respects, this war in Ukraine is the one that most closely resembles World War I,” French military historian Michel Goya told the New York Times.

“In general, when the front freezes, you’re back to World War I.”

Another historian has described the conflict as “World War I but with drones.”

Advances during the conflict have been glacial, and often reversed days later.

When Russia captured Pokrovsk, for example, it advance some 70 meters a day, slower than the advances during the Battle of the Somme in 1916.

While millions died during World War I—perhaps as many as 11 million—the casualties in Ukraine have been far lower, though still high by today’s standards. It’s estimated 500,000 soldiers on both sides have died so far.

There is still no sign of an end to the conflict; although President Trump has expressed a renewed interest in securing peace as soon as possible.

  1. ALL WARS ARE FAKE and orchestrated by the bankers and financiers.
Yes, some folks get harmed or unalived, all part of the plan.
Why anyone would sign up for the military or war is beyond reasonable human discernment!
When you sign up, you are given a uniform, “training”, and put into harms way by wealthy folks sitting in air conditioned offices calling all of the moves, living in comfort way beyond what a reasonable human would live like.
People really need to break away from controlled and contrived society to better their own lives, and stop giving a F about other’s lives 🙂
Once there is no longer a herd mentality, there is no longer a puppet army, and individual folks doing what they best see fit for themselves 🙂
The govt hates individualism because that means that they have to work to survive!

  2. WTF is Russia doing? Theyre just sitting back and letting Ukraine obliterate their infrastructure without even lifting a finger.

    Self sabotage? Looking very suspect.

  3. Our politicians have completely ripped off the American people and stole our money!!!

The United States has approved approximately $175 billion in emergency aid for Ukraine since Russia’s 2022 invasion, with $83.4 billion actually disbursed as of December 2024. This funding includes $123.9 billion allocated to the Department of Defense for security assistance, representing about 68% of the total allocation.

    Aid breakdown by category:

Security assistance: $130.7 billion (71% of allocations) for weapons, equipment, and military training
Economic support: $44.2 billion (24%) for governance, infrastructure repairs, and public services
Humanitarian aid: Approximately 2% for crisis response and refugee support
Operations: 2% for agency coordination and oversight
Future commitments remain uncertain as of June 2026. Ukraine has indicated plans to request an additional $20 billion in emergency defense aid at upcoming international meetings, while the World Bank has mobilized over $90 billion in total financial support from all international donors since February 2022.
