Federal authorities shot and killed an illegal alien during a targeted enforcement operation in Houston on Tuesday, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has confirmed.
The harrowing incident unfolded just before 7 a.m.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) attempted to conduct a vehicle stop when the driver, identified as Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, rammed into a federal vehicle.
Araujo ignored repeated verbal commands and then tried to run over an ICE officer, prompting defensive fire, DHS says.
“The driver was struck, and emergency services were immediately contacted,” DHS explained in a statement.
“The driver was transported to the hospital where he passed away from his injuries. The FBI is leading the investigation and is on the scene.”
Footage purportedly captured by witnesses appears to show federal officers administering emergency medical treatment to Araujo at the scene.

So close, all he had to do was ram the cruiser and he’d have been home free 1840’s style! Oh wait, he forget about backup, radio and dispatch, helicopters, a couple dozen video sources that captured everything from start to end, forensic evidence left on the vehicle once he ditched it, his employer revealing his identity after the fact, and of course return fire from the officer. It doesn’t matter if that “ran over” ICE agent was a good 10ft away from ever actually getting hit, you rev up your engine and take off in the same general direction you’ve given the green light and basically consented to being shot dead.
