An illegal border crosser granted legal status by the Biden regime has been charged in a brutal “random attack” on a female victim in Idaho over the weekend, authorities say.

The shocking assault unfolded at around 11 p.m. on Saturday night in Boise.

The woman was talking on the phone while walking on the Greenbelt when a man “approached her from behind, physically assaulted her and pulled her off the path,” Boise police explained in a press release.

The suspect threw the victim’s phone into the brush while grabbing her face and strangling her, restricting her breathing for roughly a minute, authorities say.

Bystanders heard the woman’s screams and called 911 while rushing to intervene, sending the assailant fleeing.

Responding officers quickly located the suspect and took him into custody.

Javier Ortiz-Galvan, 26, was booked into Ada County Jail on felony charges of aggravated assault and second-degree kidnapping.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) revealed that Ortiz-Galvan is a Mexican national who illegally entered the U.S. at an unknown location or date before being granted permanent residency in 2022.

“Possessing a green card is a privilege, not a right. Under our nation’s laws, our government has the authority to revoke a green card if our laws are broken and abused,” said a DHS spokesperson.

Ortiz-Galvan holds a driver’s license issued to him by the sanctuary state of Oregon, but has been living in the Boise area while working construction for the past three months, according to his public defender.

Ortiz-Galvan is being held on $1 million bail.

“The defendant had no excuse or remorse for his behavior during an interview with law enforcement,” the prosecutor stated in court.

“The nature of this incident is disturbing and frightening to members of the community who now do not feel safe walking home or on the Greenbelt.”

The victim was treated for injuries at the scene and taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.
