A clip from director Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of The Odyssey features trans actor Elliot (formerly “Ellen”) Page struggling to run through the desert wearing full Greek soldier gear, in an outrageous example of the woke revision of the classic ancient Greek epic poem.
The film has been receiving backlash after Page’s casting as Greek warrior “Sinon,” (who was not actually a character in The Odyssey, but appeared in Virgil’s Aeneid, where he tricked the Trojans into the infamous Trojan Horse deception).
“WTF is this,” one X user asked posting the clip to social media, as another questioned, “How is this real?”

“No amount of surgery or hormones can alter the fundamental differences in structure between the male and female hips, as this clip from Nolan’s Odyssey wonderfully illustrates,” remarked popular X user “Raw Egg Nationalist.”
“They genuinely expect audiences to believe that this extremely petite female figure is a convincing male Greek warrior. I’m sorry, but It is not remotely believable,” wrote X user @AntSpeaks.
Page’s diminutive stature was immediately noticeable during a recent press event for the film.
The clip has spawned hilarious meme edits mocking the film’s inclusion of Page as a male warrior.

Evidently several posts highlighting the clip are being flagged and removed on copyright grounds.
The viral clip comes as internet users have questioned Nolan’s other woke casting choices, including the casting of black actress Lupita Nyong’o as Helen of Troy.
One person joked a still from the film resembled “police body cam footage.”
Despite the outrage, The Odyssey somehow managed to debut with a 98% Tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes – a ranking by critics who pre-screened the film – apparently Nolan’s highest ever rating on the site.
