Yet another woman has accused Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) of drugging and raping her, as a series of sex scandals has engulfed the congressman, forcing him out of both the California governor’s race and Congress.
“He raped me, and he choked me. And while he was choking me, I lost consciousness,” Lonna Drewes told reporters Tuesday, commenting on an alleged 2018 assault that took place in a California hotel room. “I thought I died.”

Drewes, a fashion executive and model, said she knew Eric Swalwell was married and that his wife was pregnant at the time. She said she believed “he was my friend” when she agreed to have a glass of wine with him and later followed him to his hotel room to retrieve documents for a political event. She later said she believed he “drugged my drink.”

Drewes said after she had a glass of wine, Swalwell lured her to his hotel room by telling her he needed to get some paperwork before they went to a political event. By the time she reached the room, she said she was “incapacitated.”
She said that “I couldn’t move my arms or my body” and that’s when Swalwell attacked her.
“I would never have engaged in a consensual sexual encounter with Eric Swalwell,” she said, noting that she had a boyfriend at the time and have “never cheated in my life.”

The woman says the incident had “a profound impact on my mental health,” and “I did not want to live anymore.”
Lisa Bloom, Drewes’ attorney, said they would “immediately” be filing a police report with the City of Los Angeles.
Amid a series of sexual misconduct claims, Eric Swalwell has been pushed out of both the California governor’s race and Congress, including allegations of a relationship with a Chinese spy, affairs with staffers, and soliciting prostitutes.
Drewes’ claims follow allegations made last week by an anonymous staffer and other women who also accused Eric Swalwell of rape.
In comments upon announcing his resignation from Congress, Swalwell admitted to “mistakes,” saying, “I am deeply sorry to my family, staff, and constituents for mistakes in judgment I’ve made in my past… I will fight the serious false allegation made against me. However, I must take responsibility and ownership for the mistakes I did make.”
Swalwell has not yet responded to Drewes’ allegations.
