Tennessee Rep. Andy Ogles (R) backed off of remarks condemning homosexuality on X Tuesday, blaming a staffer for the post following backlash, including from members of his own party.
“Homosexuality has no place in America,” the congressman’s fiery post stated in response to Pride Month.
“Happy Nuclear Family Month,” it added.
The eyebrow-raising post, representing an ultra-conservative viewpoint, caught the attention of openly gay GOP former congressman George Santos, who chastised his “friend” over the comments.
“As much as I support the Nuclear family and how fundamental it is for life, I never thought I’d hear a person I consider a friend say there is no place for me in this country simply because of who I chose to love,” Santos wrote on X.
“I never once pushed my lifestyle onto anyone and have always voted and advocated for conservative principles… But I have the same civil rights as anyone else in this country and I am saddened by this insane comment.”
Another Republican congressman, Rep. Mike Lawler (N.Y.), also blasted Ogles, accusing him of penning the remarks despite him personally knowing many gay conservatives.
“Homosexuality exists. In America,” Lawler responded. “In fact Andy, you have family, friends, neighbors, colleagues and constituents who are gay and lesbian. It doesn’t make them less than or somehow unworthy of being an American. What an absolutely idiotic statement to make.”
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) also appeared to condemn Ogles’ post, remarking to TMZ that through “all of recorded history, homosexuals have been part of humanity.”
“You know, I’ve got to say I’m libertarian by nature… I think the behavior of consenting adults is their business,” Cruz added.
After remaining up for several hours, Rep. Ogles suddenly deleted the post, apologizing and blaming a rogue staffer for the commentary.
“Earlier today while working on the farm, my phone began going crazy because of a post made by a member of my comms team,” Ogles wrote.
“The post was stupid, hurtful and a complete distraction from my America First focus. The employee has been reprimanded,” he added.
The congressman’s capitulation to the pressure campaign was viewed as unfortunate by many conservatives opposed to the aggressive corporate push of Pride Month and the overt promotion of gay culture – especially towards children.

America has reached epidemic levels of homosexuality under the Trump Administration, with pride month held every June since before 2000 at Mar A Lago.
Trump is so gay promoting that he makes Barrack Obama appear more reserved in that area alone.
