Journalist Tucker Carlson distanced himself from his past support of President Donald Trump, telling his supporters he was sorry for misleading them when he endorsed him.

“You wrote speeches for him, I campaigned for him. I mean, we’re implicated in this, for sure,” Carlson told his brother Buckley in the latest The Tucker Carlson Show episode. “It’s not enough to say, ‘Well I changed my mind,’ or like, ‘Oh this is bad, I’m out.’ It’s like in very small ways, but in real ways, you and me and millions of people like us are the reason this is happening right now.”

“Yes,” responded Buckley.

“So I do think it’s like a moment to wrestle with our own consciences. You know, we’ll be tormented by it for a long time. I will be, and I want to say I’m sorry for misleading people, and it was not intentional. That’s all I’ll say.”

Tucker’s remarks appearing to disavow Trump come as POTUS has been lashing out at him and other pro-Trump, but Iran war-critical conservative figures, including Infowars’ Alex Jones, Candace Owens and Megyn Kelly, labeling them “low IQ” and “nut jobs.”

After Trump characterized Carlson as “not MAGA” and said the journalist had “lost his way,” Tucker responded that he’ll “always love Trump, no matter what he says about me,” adding, “I just think a war with Iran is deeply unwise.”

However, following Trump’s initial attack earlier this month, Tucker’s newsletter suggested POTUS could be blackmailed by Israel, as he noted to the press, “I’ve always liked Trump and still feel sorry for him, as I do for all slaves,” adding, “He’s hemmed in by other forces. He can’t make his own decisions. It’s awful to watch.”

Alex Jones, meanwhile, has taken Trump to the woodshed attempting to make him adhere to his America first, anti-war campaign promises, declaring, “MAGA IS DEAD and TRUMP KILLED IT!!” and calling on people to fly their American flags upside-down to signal the nation is in distress.
