NY Gov. Hochul Signs Bills to Keep Pushing Covid Vaccines on Children Despite Federal Rollbacks

A pair of bills signed by Democrat New York Governor Kathy Hochul last week allows pharmacists to administer Covid vaccines to children, while mandating insurance companies cover not only jabs recommended by the federal government but also the state.

Claiming to “safeguard access to lifesaving vaccines for New Yorkers,” the bills push back against new Trump administration policies regarding the experimental mRNA jabs, which scaled back Covid vaccine recommendations for healthy children.

“When public health comes under attack by an anti-science administration, New York fights back,” Governor Hochul said in a statement.

“Sadly, our country has witnessed the deadly consequences of politicizing science and rejecting expert opinion, especially for young people. That’s why this legislation protects access to lifesaving vaccines for New Yorkers of all ages.”

More on the bills from The Epoch Times:

One bill, Assembly Bill 10711, removes language about vaccines needing to be approved by federal regulators. Instead, it says that children must receive vaccines against measles, hepatitis B, and other diseases “in accordance with regulations issued by the commissioner of health of New York.”

Assembly Bill 10710, the other piece of legislation, requires health insurers to cover vaccines recommended by New York’s health commissioner, even if the shots are not recommended by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

New York has, in the past, only mandated vaccines approved and recommended by federal health agencies.

Despite Covid largely being contained, state health officials have continued to recommend Covid vaccines in recent years for all New Yorkers, including for people aged 6 months to 18 years and pregnant women, claiming the jabs “save lives,” while the Trump administration has downgraded vaccine requirements for healthy children and pregnant women.

Children’s Health Defense Director of Advocacy Michael Kane in a statement to The Epoch Times said the bills could enable the state to require experimental vaccines by removing language that requires recommended vaccines to be federally approved.

“It would also allow for foreign entities to determine what vaccines our children must take,” he added.
