Paramedics responding to a shooting in New York City found themselves under fire as gunshots ripped through their ambulance, according to reports.
The harrowing incident unfolded at around 12:15 a.m. on Thursday in the Bronx.
Officers and EMTs located an 18-year-old male who had been shot in the stomach in the Claremont neighborhood, ABC 7 reports.
While authorities were investigating and treating the victim, a suspect opened fire again, striking an ambulance with two EMTs sitting inside.
One of the rounds shattered the windshield and exited through a rear window, photographs published by the New York Post show.
Incredibly, neither of the first responders were seriously injured but they were treated at a local hospital as a precaution.
“After yet another incident, when a bullet struck an FDNY EMS crew’s ambulance while responding to a 911 call at Webster Ave. in the Bronx, it is absolutely clear that the members of EMS deserve more and better support, and respect for the extremely dangerous work we do as New York City’s front line, medical first responders,” said the FDNY EMS Local 2507 union in a statement.
“That job requires our medics to run into unknown and dangerous situations, including crime scenes, shootouts, and major CBRN incidents.”
The teen victim was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition.
No suspects have been arrested or identified, according to the latest available updates.
Hours prior to the shooting, NYC Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch announced that roughly 200 additional cops would be surged to the Bronx to combat a spiraling crime wave.

America is a 3rd world AIPAC-driven country today.
That is just as dangerous as them throwing concrete bricks off the overpass in new york state.
Now that is deadly, causing a massive car pile up.
Shootings in the city are not like the wake up call of a rooster.
But they like living that way, so let them.
I prefer the sea shore living myself.
