AI Startup Looks To Hire Employees To Masturbate For Them

An artificial intelligence startup which provides humans romantic relationships with AI is looking to hire 10 ‘masturbation consultants‘ for the compensation of $2,000 per month. The company, which operates a platform for ‘AI-lationships,’ has received over 100,000 job applications. The ‘consultants’ will test the new ‘daily guided masturbation feature’ by masturbating.

“In a sign of how far the tech world has drifted into the surreal, an AI startup is paying people thousands of dollars to jerk off on company time. While Americans grind through real jobs and families face rising costs, this venture frames self-gratification as cutting-edge wellness research,” Steve Watson reported on Modernity News Wednesday.

The firm, Joi AI, posted the job listing on social media on May 18. That post had received 23.4 million views by the publishing of this article. On Tuesday the firm commented that the applicants have “broke the link” – likely from the sheer volume of traffic.

The masturbation consultants will reportedly use AI voice sessions matched to a user’s mood and record its impact on stress, sleep, mood, focus and energy levels over the course of a month.

“We launched this initiative to conduct research aimed at fighting the stigma surrounding masturbation. Our goal is to demonstrate that it is a healthy habit and a vital part of a wellness routine,” project spokeswoman Julie Levin said.

The “work” that the consultants will complete will reportedly be part of a published study.

“For four weeks, participants will engage in a daily masturbation routine and report back on how it affects their sleep quality, stress levels, mood, focus, and energy. We plan to publish our findings once the study is complete,” Levin said.

The spokeswoman discussed the popularity of the job openings.

“The response has been incredible. We have received over 100,000 applications in just two days, making it probably one of the most popular job listings currently available,” she said.

The job description seeks candidates that are “articulate, observant, and impossible to blush” and could describe sensations “better than a sommelier describes wine.”

Modernity News detailed how the company’s products allow customers to live out their romantic desires vicariously through the internet:

Joi AI, formerly known as EVA AI, operates as a platform for “AI-lationships,” letting users interact with digital versions of celebrities or custom fantasy characters. It has raised $3 million and employs 22 people. The company positions itself as a judgment-free alternative to traditional dating apps.

In other words, it’s making money off of sad lonely people who have given up on meeting real humans and settled for fake ‘relationships’ with AI agents.

This latest push fits the broader pattern in Silicon Valley: leveraging provocative content and AI to capture attention in an oversaturated digital landscape. While traditional industries struggle with regulation and economic pressures, AI firms chase novelty, often blurring lines between innovation, entertainment, and exploitation of basic human drives.

Watson discussed the implications of the increasingly digitized mechanisms for sexual gratification:

Critics see this as another step in the erosion of personal discipline and real human connection. In an era of declining birth rates, widespread social isolation, and technology designed to keep users hooked, outsourcing intimate experiences to AI guidance raises questions about long-term societal effects.

Does framing routine private behavior as paid scientific labor really advance wellness, or does it simply further commodify natural impulses while Big Tech harvests more data?
