The US is ready to resume strikes against Iran if a deal cannot be reached, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said today.
“Our ability to recommence if necessary… we are more than capable,” Hegseth said in Singapore, where he is addressing the Shangri-La Dialogue, Asia’s most important forum for regional defense.
“Our stockpiles are more than suited for that, both there and around the globe, so we’re in a very good place.”
Secretary Hegseth went on to emphasize “We can do two things at one time.”
“We’re super-charging our defence industrial base so that we’re building 2X, 3X, 4X the munitions very soon to ensure that all of our (operations) plans are properly funded throughout the world,” he said, reassuring US allies that the US has not turned its back on the Asia-Pacific region.
He added that President Trump is “patient” and wants a “great deal” to ensure Iran does not get nuclear weapons.
In a post on Truth Social yesterday, President Trump revealed details of a possible deal to end the war with Iran, and said the Strait of Hormuz must be opened immediately, without tolls, and Iran will not be allowed to have nuclear weapons.
“Iran must agree that they will never have a Nuclear Weapon or Bomb,” he wrote.
“The Hormuz Strait must be immediately open, no tolls, for unrestricted shipping traffic, in both directions. All water mines (bombs), if any, will be terminated (we have removed, through detonation, numerous such mines with our great underwater mine sweepers. Iran will complete the immediate removal and/or detonation of any mines that are left, which will not be many!). Ships caught in the Strait due to our amazing and unprecedented Naval Blockade, which will now be lifted, may start the process of ‘heading home!’”
President Trump went on to say Iran’s stocks of enriched uranium, currently buried after US attacks on the facilities at Isfahan, Fordau and Natanz, must be removed, and he also said the US would not pay Iran any money—probably a reference to demands that Iranian assets, worth billions of dollars, be unfreezed.
“The enriched material, sometimes referred to as ‘Nuclear Dust,’ which is buried deep underground with virtually collapsed mountains, caused by our powerful B2 Bomber attack 11 months ago, sitting on top of it, will be unearthed by the United States (which, it is agreed, is the only Country, along with China, with the mechanical capability of doing so!), in close coordination and conjunction with the Islamic Republic of Iran, plus the International Atomic Energy Agency, and DESTROYED. No money will be exchanged, until further notice.”
Finally, he added, “Other items, of far less importance, have been agreed to. I will be meeting now, in the Situation Room, to make a final determination.”
A White House official later said the meeting lasted two hours.
“President Trump will only make a deal that is good for America and satisfies his redlines,” the official said.
“Iran can never possess a nuclear weapon.
So far, Iran has not responded to President Trump’s statements. A few hours earlier, the speaker of Iran’s parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, said “no action will be taken before the other side acts.”
“We gain concessions not through dialogue, but through missiles; in negotiations, we merely make them understand this,” he wrote on X.
“The winner of any agreement is the one who, from the day after it, is better prepared for war.”

Whenever I see Hegseth, with his hand gestures, adjectives and theatrics, I feel that a salesman is trying to distract me.
I have the same opinion Alex does, Hegseth was impressive in the beginning, now he wants to serve Israel and the 2nd coming.
Hegseth should be arrested and charged with War Crimes Against Humanity.
Hegseth is possibly the most indictable Sec of War or Defense in American history and is clearly a war criminal.
Cite the charges, come on, provide some actual content.
Many in America would cheer if a foreign nation used a drone to take out the entire Hegseth family, even the children and 3 year old grandchildren 🙂
It was OK for Hegseth to take out a girls school in Iran, so payback is warranted and fully acceptable. I am not a minority or an Iranian, just an average American taxpayer who is tired of the nonsense and really do want to see these clowns suffer tremendous physical and emotional pain 🙂

Credibility is reduced with each weekly announcement when the foreign handlers’ actions are in direct contradiction to the announcements made. Soon, when credibility approaches zero, they will be able to say see, we told you we needed to go straight to war the whole time.
How do we measure the logistical reality of this statement: “we’re building 2X, 3X, 4X the munitions very soon”? Guess it depends on whether “very soon” is measured in weeks, months or years. It makes a huge difference to the US military personnel who are putting their lives on the line every day while they mince words. Pray for them every day.

That statement caught my eye as well.
Is he “thrilling” over the affect his words have on the market? WHAT? Someone else wants in on the deal so bring that stock as low as you can. I take care of you and you take care of me. Wall Street deserves a missile strike turning it into a crater. Same goes for Jerusalem and they could build their third temple at the bottom of the hole.
