On Tuesday President Donald Trump met with Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun amid the White House effort to have Israeli forces vacate Lebanese territory.
Responding to a reporter, Trump said that he will be looking at additional steps to get Israel to withdraw its forces from Southern Lebanon.
The Jewish State has announced a “limited military pullback” from some areas of south Lebanon, part of a White House-brokered plan.
The President also said that Israel is already “in the process” of redeploying out of Lebanon.
Trump alluded to his softness for flattery when Aoun had warm words for the meeting.

Trump also floated the idea of Lebanon joining the Abraham Accords.
“The Abraham Accords have been, I think, a tremendous success. I think you’re going to see a lot of countries joining pretty soon!”
“As you know, we have our original group, and it’s so successful for them. Economically successful. It’s been that nobody left even during this time of conflict. So, I think Lebanon has a very important place.”
“I think that Lebanon has been a very mistreated country for a long period of time,” Trump said, before going into the greatness of the Lebanese people.
“We’re going to help it [Lebanon],” the President said. “We’re going to help it a lot.”
Tuesday’s meeting between the two leaders holds importance outside of Lebanon itself. Israeli military attacks against civilians in Lebanon has stymied U.S./Iranian peace negotiations.
Trump’s promise to help Lebanon and have Jewish State forces vacate the nation may aid in resolving the escalating Iran war. It will however curb Zionist aspirations for a “Greater Israel.”
