Over 1,000 Marines and sailors have joined US forces in the Caribbean, as diplomatic pressure against the communist regime in Cuba grows.
In a statement on Friday, the US Marine Corps announced that the formation of 1,300 troops, designated Littoral Combat Force-24, “has officially assumed the mission as the premier tactical force-in-readiness within the U.S. Southern Command Area of Responsibility.”
The troops, from the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, have joined elements of the 22nd and the USS Nimitz.
The troops are there to provide crisis response and maritime interdictions, as well as serving “as a powerful deterrent against malign state actors and [reinforcing] the security of our homeland.”
“Littoral Combat Force-24 provides the exact combination of precision capability and interoperability we need. They are not just a crisis response force; they provide options to the Combatant Commander and serve as a tool for building partner capacity and securing the advantage across all domains,” Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Calvert L. Worth, commanding general of II Marine Expeditionary Force, said.
Since returning to the White House, President Trump has amassed a significant concentration of US forces in the Caribbean, using them to target drug traffickers, capture and extradite Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and ramp up pressure on the communist regime in Cuba.
Since the Maduro raid in January, the US has enforced a tight blockade on oil shipments to Cuba, as well as authorizing tariffs against countries attempting to provide the island nation with oil.
Economic sanctions have also been imposed on Cuban officials and entities.
This month, the Department of Justice announced criminal indictments against Cuba’s former leader Raul Castro and other officials for the shooting down in two planes in 1996.

Ha, WTF? Since when is Cuba a threat to the security of the homeland? How are we supposed to believe that? What the hell is wrong with US government? It’s as if Trump is just black mailed and told what to do. The P dough files have already shut off Cuba’s electricity. Is Cuba threatening to invade Florida? Cuba is so below standard in every way, I know something must be done about their ghetto life but I am weary of taking them on for the expense to the American Treasury. We are unable to clean up our own ghetto’s and those were created by inviting ethnic groups to come and settle here. All they do is protest for rights and fight amongst themselves and all the rest of America to get what they want, as they are doing in Newark New Jersey. Slave reparations are a joke. All countries have a slave class, as in Mexico, for example. Send the Palestinians home, the Hindu’s, the Sudanese, the Somalians. All it does is fester conflict and IT ALWAYS WILL UNTIL we do something about it.

The United Kingdom is the biggest thief of all. This Iran preoccupation is all about America having a buffer zone (via Israel) in the Middle East. Don’t imagine for a minute that countries in the Middle East aren’t paying attention to this. Eventually they will rid themselves of Americans on their continent. Why, for example, is it OK for Pakistan to have a nuke but not Iran? How about Korea?
