Israel has stepped up its military offensive against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the intensification of strikes in a post on X on Monday morning. These include strikes in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
“In response to the repeated and ongoing violations of the ceasefire in Lebanon by the terrorist organization Hezbollah and the attacks against our cities and citizens, I have instructed the IDF, together with Defense Minister Israel Katz, to strike terrorist targets in the Dahiyeh district of Beirut,” he wrote.
On Sunday, Israeli troops moved deeper into southern Lebanon, past the Litani river, and seized the 900-year-old Beaufort Castle, after heavy fire from Hezbollah into northern Israel.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun on Sunday, a US official told Reuters, and proposed a plan for “gradual de-escalation” of the fighting.
According to Reuters, the first step will involve Hezbollah ceasing its attacks on Israel. In return, Israel will refrain from attacks on Beirut.
“This would create space for gradual de-escalation and an effective cessation of hostilities,” the official said.
Although President Aoun tried to advance the proposal, Lebanese lawmakers, including the speaker of the parliament, said it was up to Israel to stop “shooting first.”
In footage posted to social media, Esmail Baghaei, Iran’s ambassador to the UN, said a ceasefire in Lebanon will be necessary for a final agreement to end the war with the US.
In a post on Sunday evening, President Trump said Iran “really wants to make a deal,” and bashed “Dumocrats” and “unpatriotic Republicans” for criticizing him and making negotiations harder.
“Iran really wants to make a deal, and it will be a good one for the U.S.A. and those that are with us,” President Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“But don’t the Dumocrats, and various seemingly unpatriotic Republicans, understand that it is MUCH tougher for me to properly do my job and negotiate, when political hacks keep negatively “chirping,” at levels never seen before, over and over again, that I should move faster, or move slower, or go to war, or not go to war, or whatever. Just sit back and relax, it will all work out well in the end – It always does!”
Oil prices rose 2% at opening on Monday morning, as a breakthrough in negotiations between the US and Iran continues to prove elusive.

It is clear that Trump bows down to Israel. In the midst of sensitive negotiations, they do the exact worst things to get Iran to drop out.
It is another sabotage of negotiations.

Hezbollah is an Israeli backed “terrorist” group. Whenever Israel wants to bomb/invade someone, they have Hezbollah launch a few homemade bottle rockets at them.
