The Trump admin is undertaking the “broadest firearm deregulation in years.”
According to Axios, new measures would “let Americans ship handguns in the mail, gut Biden-era background check rules and make it harder to yank a gun dealer’s license.”
In late April, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) revealed over 30 new and proposed rules to “modernize” regulations around gun control.
The new rules would close the Biden-era “gun show” regulation that expanded the definition of who counts as a “gun dealer,” as well as making it easier to transport firearms, including by making it possible to send handguns by mail, just like rifles and shotguns.
Earlier this year, the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel ruled that the nearly-100-year-old ban on mailing handguns was unconstitutional.
The ATF also wants to narrow the definition of who is mentally unfit to own a gun.
Representatives of the gun industry and Second Amendment advocates have described the changes as “the dawning of a new era.”
Supporters of gun control have reacted with dismay.
“They know it raises the risk of mass shootings. They know that violent crime is likely to go up. They know it’s going to hinder law enforcement, and they do it anyway,” gun-control activist Kris Brown told Axios.

MAKE NO MISTAKE, Trump is coming for your guns as you can always expect the opposite of what he says!
