CNN reported on Monday that acting Director of National Intelligence Bill Pulte has started firing Deep State intelligence agency operatives.

The outlet’s Senior White House Correspondent Kristen Holmes wrote on social media, “Firings at the Office of the Director of National intelligence started today, a source familiar with the matter told CNN. ‘The deep state firings have begun,’ the source said, declining to give details on how many jobs had been cut.”

Then, on Tuesday, CBS News reported, “Just over 50 career and political intelligence staff at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence have lost their jobs since Bill Pulte became the agency’s acting director, Friday.”

Six political intelligence staffers were let go and sent 45 others were ordered to return to their home agencies, according to CBS, with one source saying “the cuts as thoughtful and methodical. No staffers have been removed from the counterterrorism group.”

Before stepping down last week, former Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard also cut hundreds of staffers, taking the office’s numbers from 2,000 to 1,300.

President Trump ordered Pulte to downsize last month, writing on Truth Social, “I have named William Pulte to be Acting Director of National Intelligence, who will take over on June 19th, and have asked him to execute the immediate and needed downsizing of the office, reverting staff to their home agencies. At the same time, I am looking for a permanent ODNI Nominee with experience in National Security.”

Six of the fired DNI appointees were selected by Gabbard, as Pulte explained to CNN on Tuesday, “Today, I spent time with the National Counterterrorism Center team, who is doing an incredible job protecting our Country under President Trump’s leadership. The room was filled with true professionals and American patriots. It is a privilege to work beside them.”

Another CNN source claimed as many as two dozen more DNI officials could be fired in the coming week.

Senator Thom Tillis was asked about the terminations, saying, “My guess is, based on his past experience, it’s just going to be another hot-steamy pile of DOGE shit! I think he’s an incompetent sycophant and not the right person to lead DNI.”

Democrat lawmakers also expressed concerns about the Trump administration’s continued gutting of the bloated bureaucracy.

Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) and Rep. Jim Himes (D-Conn.) wrote a letter to Pulte, stating, “We are concerned by reports that you intend to fire or place on leave hundreds of Office of the Director of National Intelligence officers as soon as this week. While there is room to consider responsible reductions to ODNI’s workforce, any large cuts would follow on a substantial downsizing that has already occurred in 2025 and risk jeopardizing the mission of an organization explicitly created after 9/11 to prevent any future such terrorist attack,.”

Journalist Joe Hoft of The Gateway Pundit published an article Tuesday detailing Deep State attacks on Pulte dating back to November of last year when he was serving as director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency.

MS Now journalist Ken Dilanian reported at the time that Pulte and then-DOJ Pardon Attorney Ed Martin were being investigated by DOJ Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche over their investigation into Senator Adam Schiff’s (D-N.Y.) mortgage crimes.

Ex-DNI Director Gabbard was a true America-First patriot, but hopefully Pulte can continue taking the Deep State to task as directed by POTUS.
