A mysterious vigilante in Mexico has reportedly been rounding up thieves and leaving them taped to light poles ready for police capture.
Photos from Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco, show several thieves incapacitated and duct-taped to lampposts with the motorbike they were trying to steal placed in front of them.

Many of the robbers appear roughed-up and their faces scribbled on with Sharpie markers to resemble whiskers, with the word “Rata,” Spanish for “rat,” written on their foreheads.

In some cases, the unknown vigilante also leaves a poster taped above the criminals explaining their alleged crimes.

“In Jalisco, after the lack of help from the authorities, an anonymous hero started hunting down motorcycle thieves,” wrote Mexican journalist Luis Cardenas, adding, “So far, he’s already taken down five in ten days, and they call him the ‘Batman of Lagos de Moreno’.”

The taped thieves began appearing around June 13, with police confirming they are hunting down the vigilante crime fighter.

“State Security Secretary Juan Pablo Hernández said a total of five cases have been reported, with cops hot on the Mexican’s trail,” reports The Sun.
“He added that though no suspects have yet been arrested, police have identified two vehicles that they think are connected to the attacks.”

It remains to be seen whether police will catch the secret crusader, or whether he can continue evading capture using his cunning and the cover of night.
