During Wednesday’s NATO summit in Turkey, U.S. President Donald Trump sat next to Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa and took questions from the press.
One journalist asked POTUS, “Are you going to remove Syria from the state-sponsor of terrorism list?”
The president replied, “I think I will, yeah. I think I will. Why wouldn’t I? He’s done a great job. I think we should. Yeah, I will.”
President Trump’s decision to remove Syria from the terror list is ironic as Ahmed al-Sharaa, also known as Abu Mohammed al-Jawlani, is a former member of al-Qaeda.
Last year, Trump issued an executive order lifting most U.S. sanctions on Syria, in place since the 1970s, marking a significant move toward normalizing relations with the war-torn nation.
The Syrian leader joined al-Qaeda after the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq, eventually becoming a close associate of the terror group’s leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi and being detained by U.S. forces from 2006 to 2011.
al-Sharaa was released from U.S. military custody in 2011 and immediately rose in the ranks of the Islamic State of Iraq, the precursor to ISIS and ISIL.
The U.S. State Department had a $10 million reward for al-Sharaa until it was removed in 2024.
Syria’s president then founded the Christian-murdering terrorist group al-Nusra Front amid the Syrian civil war, helping the group commit suicide bombings and fight to overthrow the regime of the nation’s then-President Bashar al-Assad.
In 2013, al-Sharaa rejected a merger between al-Nusra and ISIL, pledging allegiance to al-Qaeda instead and sparking a violent feud with ISIS.
President Trump told NATO attendees he’s worked with the Syrian leader “right from the beginning” and that “he’s unified the country” in the past year and a half.
“They took advantage of Syria. He’s bringing it back. And I’m bringing the United States back,” POTUS added.

I don’t know if an American president has ever spoken so highly of a Syrian leader before. We could use more of this.

Sharaa went from killing US soldiers with his bare hands to shaking Trump’s hand and he’s cool with Israel grabbing Syrian land.
Trump of course gets his Syrian policy from the zionists.
If the zionists want him running Syria, Trump does too.
If MTG, Tucker, Massie, and so on, do not bow down to Israel, then Trump attacks them.
It is that obvious.
Why hasn’t the United States ever been listed as a state sponsor of terrorism?
