Secretary of War Pete Hegseth defended military pilots on Friday after U.S. Navy Blue Angels jets flew low to the ground over Pensacola Beach, Florida, earlier in the week and eight AH-64 Apache helicopters went over beaches in South Carolina on July 4th.

“The flyovers will continue until morale improves,” he wrote on social media.

The Florida flyover sent beachgoers’ belongings into the air as the jets flew extremely close to the crowd, causing some media outlets and Democrat politicians to whine about the stunt.

Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.) wrote, “Aviation safety rules are written in blood. Glamorizing and excusing reckless behavior like this will only lead to more, until we reach the point where a horrific tragedy occurs because of brazen, careless rhetoric like this.”

ABC News called the incident “dramatic” and noted the Blue Angels were reviewing the maneuver.

The Blue Angels released a statement, reading, The safety of our hometown community, spectators, and our pilots is our highest priority. Team leadership is reviewing the circumstances surrounding the maneuver and conducting a thorough safety review to ensure all operations adhere to strict Navy and FAA safety standards.”

One popular social media user incorrectly suggested, “Someone is going to have to step down.”

The White House shared an AI art image of the flyover with the caption, “It’s okay to love America.”

Acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao wrote, “Flight debrief complete. No reprimands. No firings. No problem. That’s the sound of Freedom! Semper fi and Hooyah.”
