New York City police arrested a deranged suspect for killing a man in the subway just hours after his release from a psych ward this week, according to reports.
The unprovoked attack unfolded unfolded at around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday night in Manhattan.
Authorities say the suspect, a black male identified as 32-year-old Rhamell Burke, shadowed the elderly victim for approximately 30 yards before shoving him down a stairway leading to the No. 1 train station.
Ross Falzone, 76, suffered a traumatic brain injury, spinal fracture, and a rib fracture in the fall, sources told the New York Post.
Falzone was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries hours later.
Burke was arrested on Friday afternoon after cops spotted him at Penn Station.
Roughly six hours before the deadly ambush, Burke was detained after he grabbed a stick out of a garbage can and menaced cops while “acting erratically” outside the NYPD’s 17th Precinct station house.
Burke was labeled an “emotionally disturbed person” and taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he underwent a brief evaluation in the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program and was released.
Burke has at least four prior arrests since February, including for assaulting a police officer and also for assaulting a stranger, ABC 7 reports.
NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani has demanded an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Burke’s release from Bellevue and claims he is “horrified” by Falzone’s killing.
Falzone was a retired special education teacher with a doctorate degree from Columbia University, his sister told local media.
“He wouldn’t hurt anybody. He’s a bag of bones. He’s not even 100 pounds,” Donna Falzone said.
“There’s no amount of anger that we can express, and shock. I mean, to get a call like that at 4 in the morning — to find out your brother’s minding his own business, three witnesses, and pushed down the steps and left for dead.”
At the time of this writing, it is unclear what charges Burke may face.

This feral creature should be summarily executed…after a fair trial of course…and so should every leftist that enabled this to happen.
This is a hate crime and should prosecuted as such.

The left will spin it that they need more taxpayer resources to treat and rehabilitate this scumbag. It is unclear what charges Burke may face because he is unlikely to face any charges whatsoever. If he were white, and the victim black, we know exactly what charges would be pending: hate crime charges.
