Nearly two dozen black males were apprehended during an inorganic riot in Florida this weekend, authorities say.

The major bust unfolded at around 9 p.m. on Friday night in Tampa.

A planned ‘teen takeover’ at Curtis Hixon Park was shut down by the Tampa Police Department (TPD) after youths caused “significant disruptions, fights, and other issues in the park and surrounding areas.”

TPD Air Service personnel assisted patrol officers and bike units on the ground in restoring order and detaining suspects.

Footage released by TPD shows officers moving in on mobs of juveniles brawling and causing mayhem in streets, parking lots, and promenades in the area.

In total, 22 suspects were arrested and hit with a variety of charges, including affray, possession of narcotics, resisting without violence, and unlawful possession of a weapon.

The suspects ranged in age from 12 to 21 years old, and all but three were identified as black males.

Two firearms and a vehicle were seized during the crackdown, TPD says.

“This type of reckless and criminal behavior will not be tolerated in our city. What began as a large gathering quickly escalated into disorder and activity that placed others at risk. Parents need to know where their children are and who they are with. Unfortunately, the poor decisions made by these 22 individuals last night could have lasting consequences that follow them well into adulthood,” stated TPD Chief Lee Bercaw.

“The Tampa Police Department remains committed to being one of the safest major cities in the nation, and we will continue taking strong enforcement action against anyone who threatens the peace and safety of our community.”
