Federal authorities are urging officials in the sanctuary state of California to not release an illegal alien truck driver facing a slew of charges in connection with a hit-and-run collision that killed two people this week.
The preventable tragedy unfolded just after noon on Tuesday in Lodi.
Manvir Singh, 24, lost control of the 18-wheeler he was driving on Highway 99 and skidded off the roadway, California Highway Patrol says.
The crash triggered a multi-vehicle pileup that killed two innocent motorists who have not yet been identified.
Singh reportedly attempted to flee the scene on foot but was quickly apprehended.
He is being held in San Joaquin County Jail on charges that include vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, reckless driving with specified injuries, fleeing a crime scene, gross bodily injury, resisting arrest, and hit and run resulting in permanent injury or death.
Singh was issued a commercial driver’s license (CDL) by the state of California in March 2025, despite being in the country illegally.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is “looking into how this illegal got his CDL and will investigate the trucking company who employed this driver,” Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy stated.
Singh was busted illegally entering Arizona by Biden’s Border Patrol in 2023 and subsequently released into the interior, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) revealed on Thursday.
“This criminal illegal alien from India should never have been behind the wheel of a semi-truck and allowed to kill two innocent people in a multi-vehicle crash in California,” said DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis.
“He is now charged with vehicular manslaughter, hit and run resulting in death or injury, and resisting a police officer. This is yet another example of why illegal aliens should not be operating trucks on American highways. We need Congress to pass Dalilah’s Law to prohibit states from granting illegal aliens commercial driver’s licenses.”
Immigration and Customs Enforcement has lodged a detainer against Singh, but it is unclear if it will be honored.
Foreign truck drivers — many of whom are Indian — are wreaking havoc on U.S. highways, as we frequently report.

The state of CA should be sued for allowing an illegal to operate a vehicle in the country.
Get a ROPE.
Deport the rest of ’em.
Why is it I can predict the last name of every Indian trucker in these incidents? Literally all have the same last name Singh. All from the corrupt family in India.
