NASCAR Legend Kyle Busch Dead At 41: Internet Questions Cause Of Death After Driver Requested “Shot” For Sinus Cold

NASCAR driver Kyle Busch died on Thursday at age 41, marking the first time an active racer for the league has passed away since the tragic crash that killed Dale Earnhardt in 2001.

Hours before he died, Busch’s family released a statement saying he’d be missing Sunday’s race in Charlotte, North Carolina, due to a “severe illness” that left him hospitalized.

No official cause of death has been released thus far.

TMZ obtained audio of a 911 call made by someone who said the NASCAR star was “very hot,” suffering from “shortness of breath, thought he was going to pass out” and was “coughing up some blood.”

Communications between Busch and his racing team aired during a May 10 NASCAR broadcast revealed the driver requested a doctor meet with him after a recent race to give him “a shot” to help with “a sinus cold” he’d been battling for a week.

Health researcher Steve Kirsch wrote on social media, “A rapid escalation from a seemingly routine respiratory/sinus issue to fatal illness in a healthy, fit 41-year-old athlete is unusual.”

Several political commentators and internet users voiced suspicions about the “shot” that Kyle requested.

Other social media users noted Busch and his wife recently received a large sum in a settlement with Pacific Life Insurance Company after suing the company for allegedly misleading them into buying complex indexed universal life (IUL) insurance policies marketed as safe, tax-free retirement plans.

Just last week, after winning the NASCAR Craftsman Truck series on Friday, Busch told the crowd “you never know when the last [race] is.”
