One in three people living in France are either foreign-born or of foreign descent according to a major new study from the country’s most prestigious public-research institute.
The National Institute of Demographic Studies (INED) in Paris describes France as a “society profoundly marked by long-term immigration.”
Because the French government explicitly prohibits the collection of racial or ethnic statistics in its census, the Institute resorted to other means to calculate the proportion of the population of foreign descent.
They interviewed 27,000 people in France between 2019 and 2020, and found that 13% were foreign-born, 11% were the children of immigrants and 10% the grandchildren of immigrants.
Just over 40% of the population has a tie to immigration of some kind, whether through personal heritage or marriage within the family.
The immigration is overwhelmingly non-European.
Breitbart reports, “The INED study found that the largest cohort of immigrants aged 18 to 59 at 32 per cent came from the North African Maghreb region, much of which was previously under French colonial rule. Meanwhile, 20 per cent of immigrants hailed from sub-Saharan Africa and 16 per cent from Asia. Just 28 per cent came from other European nations.”
The study notes that only European immigrants and their descendants choose to integrate, “distancing themselves from the origins of their parents and benefiting from a form of invisibility in French society.”
“The analysis calls into question a simplistic assimilationist vision which would suggest that relationships with origins become diluted over generations… The results reveal a dynamic of hybridization and the emergence of ethnicized and racialized identities,” the study notes.
In recent weeks, the enormous demographic changes taking place in France have been hailed by leaders of the country’s left, including socialist Jean-Luc Mélenchon, himself Moroccan-born.
Mélenchon has welcomed the creation of a “nouvelle France” (new France) which is “creolized.”
He has also openly reclaimed the term “Great Replacement” as a positive term.
“We need municipal elections that demonstrate the political consciousness of the French people in its diversity, the capacity of our lists to embody the new France, that of the great replacement, that of the generation that replaces the other because that’s how it has been since the dawn of time,” he said in January of this year.

The same people in leadership will never change. So, unless people grab some guns and fix it, this massive problem will never be fixed.
