On Wednesday the House or Representatives voted to limit President Donald Trump’s power to wage war against Iran, although the vote is mostly symbolic as the Senate and President are unlikely to side with it.

In a 215 to 208 vote with 7 abstaining, Congress has passed a motion: “Directing the President, pursuant to section 5(c) of the War Powers Resolution, to remove United States Armed Forces from hostilities with Iran.”

While the vote was generally along party lines, some Republicans joined in on stopping Trump’s Iran war.

“The vote is mostly symbolic. Democrats, despite multiple attempts, have been unable to pass a war powers resolution through the Republican-led Senate. Even if the measure passed in Congress, it would almost certainly be vetoed by President Trump, whose administration has questioned the constitutionality of the War Powers Act,” NPR said.

Trump spoke out against the House vote, saying that he is in the middle of final negations, despite already declaring victory and saying the war was over and shifting his timeframe for it to be over:

Yesterday, in a meaningless vote, the House voted, 4 bad Republicans and all of the Dumocrats, to limit my War Powers, right in the middle of my final negotiations to end the War with the Islamic Republic of Iran. Who would do such an unpatriotic thing. They know where the negotiations stand. The Democrats are fueled by Trump Derangement Syndrome. They would rather have our Country fail than give me another, of many, victories. The four Republicans, that’s a whole other story – They’re GRANDSTANDERS! They should be ashamed of themselves. MAGA!!! President DJT

While the War Powers Resolution is likely going to stall out in the Senate, it would have been one method by which Trump could exit the Iran war, something he is looking to do.

  1. Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf says Iran is no longer a target of easy threats for enemies, adding that the experience of confronting two US-Israeli wars has shown that Iran is well capable of delivering harsh responses to any aggression.

USA will no longer bully the Islamic Republic of Iran. Those day are officially over!!!

See how they play the game back and forth.

    Such a pattern.

    Answerability is still zero.

Fire every damn one of them.

This is no representation we have in this current administration.
