Video captured the moment rowdy Knicks fans trashed a New York City area Five Guys restaurant and beat up an employee following Wednesday night’s NBA Finals victory over the San Antonio Spurs.
Footage showed a group of basketball Americans hurling chairs inside the burger joint in Manhattan around 3 a.m. Thursday morning.
An employee can be seen attempting to defend himself by throwing a basket of freshly cooked French fries at the unruly mob, before the group tosses chairs at him and climbs over the counter to attack him.
“Ohh, they’re killing him, oh!” a woman could be heard yelling as the Knicks fans descended on the employee.
The worker later appeared bloodied as he laid on the ground trying to block one of the Knicks fans from hitting him with another chair.
The New York Post reports the 24-year-old Five Guys worker sustained a laceration to his right arm, according to police.
The incident came as the Knicks staged a massive comeback Thursday, taking Game 4 by a score of 107-106 after making up a 29-point deficit, securing their third Finals victory and putting them one final win away from clinching the championship.
Thursday’s violent Five Guys altercation followed the arrest of 21 Knicks fans last week, as chaos erupted in NYC after the Knicks lost game 3 of the Finals.
The next NBA Finals match will be held on Saturday, June 13, in San Antonio, Texas.
