General Motors has replaced 1,000 workers at its flagship Detroit plant with 50 robots, sparking outrage among labor unions.
The New York Post reports: “The replacement ‘collaborative robots,’ or ‘cobots,’ have been installed on the assembly line at GM’s Factory Zero plant in Michigan amid a sharply reduced demand for its EV models and the ensuing push to cut costs…
“The machines are now working alongside the remaining humans there who attach the body panels to vehicles as they move down the track.”
General Motors has said the robots are necessary to ensure the business stays competitive, at the same time as improving “safety and ergonomics” for workers.
“We’ve been installing cobots across our manufacturing footprint as part of a broader push to bring more advanced technology into our operations,” spokesman Kevin Kelly said.
“At Factory ZERO, we are implementing them alongside our team—helping improve safety and ergonomics, while keeping our operations flexible and competitive.”
But labor unions have reacted with fury. They claim the move is simply a cost-cutting maneuver to replace workers.
Unions have been able to increase wages for auto workers, despite the average number of labor hours required to produce a car plummeting by as much as 70% since the 1980s.
Decreasing demand for electric vehicles has hit General Motors hard, and led to production being paused at the Factory Zero plant a number of times in the last year.
Despite this, the company still recorded $4.25 billion in profits in the first quarter of the year, up 22% from the same period in 2025.

Who are they building the cars for? …because I’m not paying a $100,000 for a pickup that scans my face and needs a new engine every 20,000 miles! LET IT ROT!!
and the price of those vehicles will still go up
This is just a very small taste of what is planned and what’s to come
We are all considered Useless eaters in the eyes of the WEF types
Factory Zero humans
That will teach them to ask for a livable wage.
A livable wage was 15 cents per hour. This is exactly what my grandparents made before WW1 in the factories, working about 40 to 50 hours per week, paid in cash, with zero taxes of any kind taken out, and zero paper work, period. They pulled in about $12 to $15 per week in gold, sliver, and copper. They paid $800 cash for a new home after saving for about 4 years circa 1910. There were very few mortgages issued in those much better days. There were better off than college educated people today who make about $150K per year.
This is really misleading as you have not adjusted for inflation nor accounted for the level of technology! Most people didn’t even have electricity until the 1940’s!
If a livable wage was 15¢ in 1910, then we adjust for inflation, that brings us to $5.08 in 2026 money so roughly the same. Another problem with your analogy is the technology level. Your grandparents lived in absolute squaller (normal for the time) compared to even the poorest person today. The most advanced technology at the time was a battery powered AM TRF radio! Now compare that to a modern home with an electric stove, refrigerator, hot water heater, air conditioners, electric lighting in every room, indoor plumbing. Now do you see why a new home went for $800 ($27,000)? ..because there was nothing in it! No AC, no electricity, no appliances, no plumbing, not even fiberglass insulation!
This is entirely what MAGA is all about 😉
MAGA!!!
Pull that muslim cock from your mouth. You are a retard!
Do you really think muslims are smart enough to pull off 9-11 or even build robots?
