Former Green Beret Ivan Raiklin launched a defamation lawsuit against J6 Capitol Police officer Michael Fanone after he falsely accused Raiklin of threatening to rape his children, and called him a “traitor” and a “sick bastard” during a House Judiciary Committee hearing.

The lawsuit, filed May 29 in Fairfax County Circuit Court, Virginia, stems from a January 22, 2026, incident during a U.S. House Judiciary Committee hearing recess where Fanone confronted Raiklin as he shouted questions at him from the gallery.

Footage shows Fanone calling Raiklin “a traitor to this country,” and telling him to “Go fuck yourself” multiple times, before he comes up to Raiklin and accuses him of threatening his family, while urging Raiklin to “Do something.”

“This guy has threatened my family, threatened my children, threatened to rape my children, rape my children, you sick bastard. Rape my children,” Fanone loudly told the room, as officers tried to calm him down.

Raiklin’s lawsuit accuses Fanone of defamation, using “insulting words” that tend to cause violence, and “assault” for placing him in “reasonable apprehension of imminent harmful or offensive contact through aggressive physical posturing and statements.”

Raiklin is seeking $10.35 million in compensatory and punitive damages, plus a full public apology across all of Fanone’s social media platforms.
