A man’s hand was hacked off during an attack in New York state this week, according to reports.
The horrifying incident unfolded on Sunday evening in Rochester.
Officers were called to the scene where an unidentified 42-year-old male was suffering from an “apparent laceration.”
Witness footage shows bystanders attempting to help the man, who was laying on a sidewalk bleeding profusely from his right arm.

“We noticed the hand was about 50 to 75 feet away from him, near what appeared to be an apartment building,” stated Amanda Miller, a nurse who stopped to render emergency medical aid until paramedics arrived.
A tourniquet was applied to the wound and the man was rushed to a local hospital where surgeons successfully reattached the limb, WHAM reports.
During a search of a nearby apartment, investigators found an AR-style rifle and a 12-inch fixed-blade knife, Rochester Police Captain Greg Bello explained.
They also discovered evidence that shots had been fired inside the residence.
No suspects have been identified or arrested at this time, according to the latest available updates.
