Watch – ‘Zombie Tick’ Survives Over Two Weeks of Drowning, Suffocation… Next Test: Freezing!

A YouTube creator embarked on a mission testing the endurance of the ferocious Lone Star tick, with the blood-sucking insect surviving over two weeks of extremely harsh conditions.

The tick has made headlines in recent weeks following an increase nationwide in cases of alpha-gal syndrome, an incurable disease characterized by a severe allergic reaction to red meat.

YouTuber Rusty Cage first attempted to kill the tick by submersing it in water for 5 days to no avail.

After 7 days, the tick laid dormant, but it was apparently still not dead.

“After five days it was still swimming around, but after day 7 I noticed it was completely still, apparently finally dead,” noted the YouTuber.

Yet the tick’s legs moved after it was gently touched by tweezers.

The YouTuber next moved the tick to a petri dish filled with water for two days, after which the tick was unresponsive, possibly dead due to lack of oxygen.

Rusty Cage then blasted loud rap music at the tick, hoping it would have the opposite purportedly genius-making effect of playing Mozart to an unborn baby.

After removing it from the petri dish and placing it on a dry surface, the tick again came to life, with the YouTuber remarking, “I fear that I have created an even stronger monster.”

The content creator’s latest test involves putting the tick in a freezer for 24 hours, after which the tick finally appears to be frozen and dead; however, the YouTuber is unconvinced by the insect’s lack of motion and believes it could possibly still be alive.

“On day 16, I removed this specimen, and just as expected, no signs of life,” Rusty Cage stated. “But death is a gift that I have yet to present. Death is a gift that the tick has not earned. Death is a gift that can be revoked. I’ll keep you updated.”

The tick’s alarming resilience comes as residents across much of the eastern United States are being warned this summer could be one of the worst tick seasons in years, with major increases in Lyme disease and alpha-gal syndrome cases being blamed on black-legged and Lone Star ticks respectively.
