Heavily-Armed Mexicans Caught Illegally Crossing Southern Border

A trio of Mexican nationals armed with “assault rifles” were caught after illegally crossing into remote West Texas.

The bust unfolded on June 27, but the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) just released details and photographs this week.

A U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) agent encountered three adult males near Presidio, a small frontier city on the Rio Grande.

Two of the men were carrying AK-style rifles while the third told an agent he had ditched an AR-style rifle after crossing the border.

Agents located the weapon along with a stash of ammunition and high-capacity magazines.

The men were identified as Edgar Barrios-Najera, Misael Hernandez-Rodriquez, and Braulio Murrillo-Tevarez.

All three are Mexican citizens who entered the U.S. illegally.

They have each been charged with illegal possession of a firearm and will be prosecuted accordingly.

“These illegal aliens from Mexico illegally crossed the border with assault rifles and ammunition,” said DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis.

“Thanks to the swift work of the U.S. Border Patrol and our partner agencies, these three criminals failed to get into our country and will not be able to threaten the American people. Under President Trump’s leadership, our borders are SECURE.”
