During a segment on Real Time last Friday, comedian and HBO host Bill Maher slammed liberals who wish President Trump mas murdered in the third assassination attempt on him, at last week’s White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner.
“If you’re one of these people – and there’s many in this country – who watched that and was disappointed the president wasn’t killed, see they’re laughing, you’re not a good person or a smart person, but definitely not a good person,” Maher told his audience.
After mentioning a recent interview where Democrat Illinois Governor JB Pritzker said the next president needs to be “good, decent and kind,” Maher noted President Trump has at times not been any of the three before adding, “But, he’s not Hitler.”
“This is why I was against this ‘He’s Hitler’ bullshit,” Maher said. “If you really believe that he is a ‘Hitler McPedophile,’ then you kind of have to kill him. That’s the mentality they have.”
Continuing to criticize the faction of liberals who compare POTUS to Hitler, the HBO host said they are a large part of why the MAGA movement continues growing and politically winning.
“I don’t think you’re a good person, I wouldn’t want to be the person who thinks that way. Also, it’s just not smart,” Maher stated. “You think that’s gonna solve the problem?… MAGA’s not gonna die! We tried impeaching, that didn’t work. We tried going to the courts, that didn’t work. The only way this actually works: it’s happening. His popularity is at the lowest level it is, even among his core supporters.”
Democrat Governor, and likely 2028 presidential hopeful, Gavin Newsom also joined the program.
Maher compared Newsom to Trump regarding their trolling of mainstream media outlets, and the California politician rejected the claim.
“Among all the people who may or may not be running, you are the one who kind of imitates his style with the trolling — you’re suing Fox now, I understand,” Maher told Newsom. “That sounds exactly like what he does.”
“I’m trying to put a mirror up to Donald Trump. We’re just trying to reflect that reality and express the absurdity of all of this,” Newsom responded.
At one point, Maher floated the idea of Newsom running for president next election and tried to point out “the other side” will call out California’s poor statistics.
“Are they going to say good about gas prices? Are they going to say good about how high the rents are?” Maher asked Newsom. “There’s a whole litany.”
The Democrat governor boasted about his state’s top economy and focused on its controversial and costly high-speed rail project.

Governor Newsom was also blasted by Fox News for falsely claiming California’s population is growing.
President Trump responded on Truth Social, writing, “Last night, I happened to watch Gavin Newscum, an admittedly Low IQ person, who said he can’t read a speech, is dumb, and essentially, incompetent, and he took Bill Maher ‘over the coals.’”
“Either [Maher] didn’t have the knowledge, or he choked, because Gavin went on and on about how good California is doing, while it’s doing very poorly, having, by far, the worst year it’s ever had where, for the first time in History, more people are leaving than coming,” Trump added.
POTUS also posted, “Bill Maher got ‘eaten up’ by Gavin Newscum when Newscum said how well California is doing, A COMPLETE LIE, and Bill Maher never challenged him, not even a little bit. Also, Bill Maher’s ‘Ratings’ SUCK!”
