Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani has been hospitalized in a “critical but stable condition.”
A spokesperson for “America’s Mayor” broke the news on Sunday.
“Mayor Giuliani is a fighter who has faced every challenge in his life with unwavering strength, and he’s fighting with that same level of strength as we speak. We do ask that you join us in prayer for America’s Mayor—Rudy Giuliani.”
At present, it’s unclear what Giuliani is being treated for.
During his Friday broadcast, Giuliani repeatedly coughed and noted that he was “under the weather.”
He has received messages of support including from President Trump and another former New York mayor, Eric Adams.
“Our fabulous Rudy Giuliani, a True Warrior, and the Best Mayor in the History of New York City, BY FAR, has been hospitalized, and is in critical condition,” the President wrote.
“What a tragedy that he was treated so badly by the Radical Left Lunatics, Democrats ALL — AND HE WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING!” Trump added. “They cheated on the Elections, fabricated hundreds of stories, did anything possible to destroy our Nation, and now, look at Rudy. So sad! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”
Giuliani is set to turn 82 at the end of the month.
He has suffered a number of health battles over the years, including a lung disease he claimed was possibly related to the 9/11 terror attacks, which released enormous amounts of toxic material.
Last August, he was hospitalized with a fractured vertebra after a car he was travelling in was rear-ended in New Hampshire.
Just weeks later, he appeared at the annual 9/11 memorial in New York in a wheelchair and body brace.
He described the accident as the worst pain of his life.
“I got terrible injuries, but I would have been killed if I didn’t have my seatbelt on,” Giuliani recalled in the episode.
“I would have gone right through the window, so thank God I had the seatbelt on. I felt more pain than maybe I ever felt.”
In recent weeks, he has excoriated Zohran Mamdani, New York’s latest mayor, for his approach to crime and immigration in the city, and also revealed that he has drafted a racketeering case against Joe Biden.
