Secret Service revealed that a shootout took place in Washington, D.C. on Monday after a man near the Washington Monument opened fire near Vice President J.D. Vance’s motorcade and struck an innocent bystander in the process.

The gunman was also shot in the back and a leg, taken into custody and is now recovering in a hospital.

AlexJonesLive covered the incident after reports that the White House went on a temporary lockdown and press members had to be evacuated from the north lawn.

Secret Service Deputy Director Matthew C. Quinn explained a man believed to have a gun was confronted by Secret Service agents, which caused a brief chase before the suspect opened fire on the officers.

The agents returned fire and hit the assailant, with the suspect shooting a “juvenile” caught in the melee.

“Whether or not it was directed to the president or not, I don’t know, but we will find out,” Quinn stated.

The suspect was later identified as 45-year-old Michael Marx of Texas.

According to NBC News, “investigators are seeking to review the suspect’s digital footprint, and phone and search warrants were expected to be executed at his home and elsewhere.”
